"action news" sharee williams is live at a septa bus crash in south philadelphia a mother and child were hit and only one survived. >> and chad pradelli is live in east mt. airy. police there are working at the scene of a hit-and-run at gourdious lane andardly street. there's a tragedy there. chad pradelli, we'll begin with you one person is dead. >> yeah, shirleen, terrible

traming di 73-year-old grandfather dead and 13-year-old grandson at albert einstein being treated for serious injuries. there is the wreckage there. the two cars were approachingardly avenue here and gorgus lane when the two collided. the suv t-boned the red car. the two cars came to a spop right there. the driver and page of that suv then fled on foot. they were captured about an hour ago around the corner by police. they have injuries as well. none of the names of the victims, nor the suspects have been released. but, everyone involved in this accident is in custody. i'm told that 13-year-old child had just been picked up by his grandfather from football practice and i'm told he has serious injuries sean in stable condition. at this point no word who caused this accident and nor weather drugs are alcohol are involved. police say it is clear speed was

"action news" sharee williams is at the scene. sharee. >> and shirleen, that child is 8 years old. he is at chop tonight recovering from his injuries. the accident happening here on the streets behind me at 15 and washington. this all happening just before 7:30 p.m.. the mother is the person who did not survive and philadelphia police say the two tried to outrun the bus. it is tragedy no young child should endure seeing a parent die. >> it's tragic. tramingic accident. >> philadelphia police say a

29-year-old mother was walking with her 8-year-old son when the two tried to cross the street at 15 and washington in south philadelphia. this as a septa bus was making a left turn on to washington. that's when investigators say the mom and son accidentally got in the path of the bus. >> the bus was in motion. i suspect that based on what i understand, they knew the bus was in motion and they tried to outrun the bus as it was making the turn. she was struck by the right front of the bus. >> mother fell under the front tire and becameen tappingled under the bus. the boy was also struck but is expected to be okay. but his mother's injuries were too severe. she died at the scene. police say the boy stayed by his mom's side trying to do all he could to save her life. >> this little boy watched this happen to his mother and was actually trying to rendered aid to her while the police officers arrived and they found him

sitting with her. >> the heartbreaking situation. accident investigators and septa now conducting an internal investigation as to what exactly happened. they have already reviewed the video that was captured from the camera on the bus. and they say, that video right now is lining up with what they are telling us. no one was on the bus. this was the route 27 bus, when this accident happened. the little boy is 8 years old and is recovering at chop tonight. we're live in south philadelphia, sharee william, "action news" at 10 on phl17. >> all right. sharee, thank you. >> a police chase involveding a suspected car chief ended in arrest tonight in kensington. chopper6hd followed red pontiac during the 20 minute pursuit after 8:00 tonight. police say the suspect bailed from the car and tried to fool officers by pretending to be a pedestrian on cellphone and they

converged and he surrendered. >> there's been an arrest of killing a 15-year-old student innocent bystander taken by gun violence. philadelphia police made a second arrest, 17-year-old boy who also happens to be a star high school football player. "action news" reporter dann cuellar live in the details open this tonight. dann. >> brian, after hearing a second person was arrested a group came to pray for rockman and her family. they were asking for healing and for leadership, to stem the tide of violence monday the city's youth. >> we need your direction. >> yes, father. >> we can't do this without you. >> yes, lord. >> after praying where rockman died so traumatically of all places in front ever einstein medical center a group of religious leaders and friends of the family marched to delaware charter where she went to school. >> we want to see the violence stop.

our child, lord god, we want to be able to live. >> the group was mindful a few hours early second many star running back at father judge high was arrested charged with instigating the shooting. police say he directed 19-year-old darian person to shoot a number of people that gathererred broad and olney and later einstein for what was supposed to be a fight. that is when iesha was killed and 19-year-old injured. >> our children are killing one another. the morals are gone. they have no hope. we have no morality. >> at father judge the football teammates practiced without him. the archdiocese said while they cannot comment on the situation of this nature involving a minor the entire school community is praying for those affected by this tragedy. meanwhile, those gathered for the vigil say them comb on behalf of iesha's family.

they want to squeeze it all in as much as they can. >> thank you, ces. >> a 3-year-old made it out of a firey car crash in port richmond without any injuries. but her mother, she suffering from serious injuries and out-of-control driver slammed into jacqueline lopez's car as she filled up the tank that sunoco at aramingo right there and somerset last night. she was severely burned. a passenger in the striking vehicle broke a window to get lopez's daughter out of the car. so far, police have not announced any charges. lopez is in intensive care. a work obligation likely saved a homeowner and her children from being in their home when disaster hit. police say a man drove a mini van right into their house on the 700 block of old dolly road yesterday. rasheda macintosh a teacher -- otherwise she and her two kids would have been inside that time of the afternoon.

avenue and police tell us two men enter the store around 6:40 and instructed owner to give up all the money. when the owner refused one man fired two shots into the ceiling and suspects took off. no one was hurt. and they were wearing dark bandanas to cover their faces. >> and tonight we've also got surveillance video of another bandana-wearing bandit that struck twice in the two past weeks. he hit the bp gas station on 6600 block essington avenue in southwest philadelphia last week. he point aid gun at the cashier and she handed over 100 dollars. and investigators say he is the same man that robbed a 7-eleven on north delaware avenue fishtown wednesday. >> a car fire shut down a stretch of road leding to philadelphia international airport this evening. you can see the flames and spoke there. once the fire department arrived they were able to put the flames out within minutes. >> and one man is dead and another in critical condition tonight after a roofing accident this morning.

police were called it a home on 2100 block of winston avenue havertown shortly after 9 a.m. they found two men open the lawn there. and investigators say the men were working on the roof when they somehow stumbled off the aluminum ladder and it crashed into electrical wire. one of the victims was electrocuted and second victim was flown to the hospital of the university of pennsylvania. >> a mystery respiratory illness climbed the life of a 4-year-old preschooler in hamilton township, new jersey and of course, that has everyone wondering if this could be enterovirus 68. workers removed and wiped down toys and sanitized one classroom inside yardville elementary school. she died from unidentified respiratory virus. the cdc is expediting tests to find out if it could be enterovirus 68. that of course is the virus believed to have sent hundreds to hospitals in 21 states. parents should not panic but you

person with graham 18-year-old uva student disappeared september 1 3. fbi has been called in to help police investigate the beheading of a woman at a food processing plants near oklahoma city. suspect was just fired when he stormed back into the office yesterday and attacked a 54-year-old with a knife. police say he then began attacking a second woman when he was shot by an armed company executive. the suspect is 30-year-oldalton nolan this is his mug shot from a previous arrest. tonight they're trying to figure out his motive. >> well they are tough guys and new mexico police officers admit they're a little freaked out tonight. it started as pretty typical saturday night. police officer carl ramero was on duty keeping an ion surveillance whence he saw something in supposedly secure entry way. >> at first i thought it was like a flying moth then i saw the legs and -- it was a human
